- W2069100764 abstract "Abstract The Fe/Cr multilayers prepared by thermal evaporation were irradiated with 0.82 MeV/u Au 15+ ions in the range of fluence between 1×10 11 and 5×10 12 ions/cm 2 . The goal of the irradiation was to study the influence of heavy-ion beams on interface structure. The modification of the interface by ion irradiations was analyzed by Conversion Electron Mossbauer Spectroscopy (CEMS). Weak asymmetry between Fe/Cr and Cr/Fe interfaces was seen for as-deposited samples. The Fe/Cr interface (upper) is slightly rougher than Cr/Fe one (lower). After irradiations, large mixing at both interfaces was observed and it increased with the beam fluence. The changes of the interface observed by CEMS were correlated with the results of calculations performed with an extension of the thermal spike model in three dimensions. The radius of tracks formed in Fe layers equals 4 nm and it is twice as large as that radius of tracks formed in Cr layers." @default.
