Kinetic parameters (25 °C, 3m; ∼ 0.04 M) are kOH = 1.28 X 103 M−3 s−1, Ea = 87.0 ± 0.7 kJ mol−1 and ΔS#; = +98 ± 1.4 J K−1 mol−1. Complete racemisation accompanies the base hydrolysis reaction and the rate of loss of optical activity is 0.5 times that of base hydrolysis. These data are interpreted in terms of the formation of a symmetrical trigonal bipyramid intermediate generated from the conjugate base." @default.
