- W2069573071 abstract "FT-IR spectroscopy has been used to characterize white matter, grey matter, and multiple sclerosis (MS) plaques from human central nervous system (CNS) tissue. Discrimination among these three tissue types is possible due to variations in composition. Spectra of white matter exhibit strong lipid absorptions. In contrast, spectra of grey matter reveal a reduced lipid contribution and a significant absorption from water. MS plaques exhibit spectra indicative of lipid loss and, depending upon whether the plaques are chronic or acute, changes in the protein and/or water content." @default.
