- W2069830315 abstract "Neoplasms of the parapharyngeal space are uncommon lesions in the adult population. Approximately 20% to 27% of the masses arising primarily in this site may be benign nerve sheath tumors. Schwannomas are benign, slow-growing neoplasms deriving from neural crest cells. They can arise from any peripheral, spinal, or cranial nerve, excluding the optic and olfactory nerves. Schwannomas that originate from cervical sympathetic chain are a rare subgroup of these tumors; moreover, the existence of a Horner’s syndrome before surgery is uncommon. We report a parapharyngeal schwannoma of large dimension presented with Horner’s syndrome and review the presentation, imaging characteristics, and operative considerations." @default.
