- W2069964562 abstract "The radiative decays of Σ+ and Λ are studied in terms of dispersion relation techniques. For this, the absorptive part of the decay amplitudes is calculated in the approvimation of keeping only the one-pion one-nucleon intermediate states. The contribution of the (πN-γN) vertex is expressed in terms of the J = 12 partial wave amplitudes for pion photoproduction on nucleons; that of the (hyperon-πN) vertex arises as the solution of an integral equation of the Omnés-Mushkelishvili type and involves integrals over the s- and p-wave J = 12 phase shifts for pion-nucleon scattering. With certain simplifications concerning the main contributions to the pion photoproduction on protons and the asymptotic behaviour of the π-N phase shifts, the ratio ϱ ≡ (Σ+→p+γ)(Σ+→p+π°) is calculated assuming the validity of the |ΔT| = 12 rule and time reversal invariance. It is found that, if the intermediate state in Σ+→n+π+→p+γ is a pure s-wave, the ratio ϱ ≈ 0.6%, in good agreement with the existing experimental data; if it is a pure p-wave, ϱ is estimated to be smaller by an order of magnitude." @default.
