- W2070286503 abstract "The effect of dissipation on the ac linear response of a resonant-tunneling diode is investigated theoretically by applying two well-known models. (i) The featureless phase-breaking model is applied to study the acoustic-phonon scattering, where we show that the phase-breaking process has no significant effect on the ac conductance in the high-temperature limit; phase breaking does have an influence at low temperatures, and we also discuss the characteristic time at zero temperature. (ii) The independent boson model is applied to describe the LO-phonon scattering, where we find a shift for the ac-conductance peak due to the renormalizing effect of the electron LO-phonon interaction on the resonant level and compare the line shape of the renormalized response function with that from the acoustic-phonon scattering. We also study the possibility of probing the emission of LO phonons in the ac response in the limit of zero temperature, and discuss the relevant experimental condition. textcopyright{} 1996 The American Physical Society." @default.
