- W2070535699 abstract "The thickness and spatial distribution of tar-saturated zones within the McMurray Formation are highly variable. Tar-saturated zones are defined by an arbitrary cutoff of 8% by wt tar (= 27 ohms resistivity). This cutoff includes approx. 90% of the total tar in the formation. On the basis of data from 40 wells in the Gregoire Lake area, there is no correlation between total thickness of tar saturation and number of tar zones in the wells. Data on the number of tar zones per well and thickness of individual tar zones for all 40 wells are combined by the Monte Carlo method to produce a predictive-probability distribution of total-thickness values. It is estimated that approx. 9,900 acres (3,960 ha.) should be sufficient to supply one tar extraction plant in the Gregoire Lake area." @default.
