In sauren Puffern wird zunächst die Nitrogruppe des Nitrazepams zur Hydroxylamingruppe reduziert, und bei negativerem Potential folgt in einer additiven Stufe die Reduktion der protonierten Hydroxylaminogruppe und der Azomethingruppe (4, 5). In alkalischen Puffern ist die negativere Reduktionsstufe nur halb so groß wie die erste Reduktionsstufe, weil infolge unzureichender Hydroxoniumionen-Konzentration in der Grundlösung die NHOH-Gruppe nicht protoniert und daher nur noch die Azomethingruppe bei negativerem Potential reduziert wird. Mechanism of the polarographic Reduction of Nitrazepam Nitrazepam is reduced at the dropping mercury electrode in two steps with different wave-heights, depending on the pH-values of the buffer solutions. With Amel-potentiostat the mechanism of the polarographic reduction was investigated. The electrolytic processes were controlled polarographically. In acid buffers the nitro group from Nitrazepam is reduced first to the hydroxylamine group and at a more negative potential the reduction of the hydroxylamine group and the azomethine group (4, 5) follows in one additive wave. In alkaline buffers the second wave-height is half of the first wave-height. The NHOH-group is not reduced, because of the insufficient protonation of the NHOH-group.
