- W2070711186 abstract "Based on 5-hydroxyisophthalic acid (H2HIPA), two cyclooligomeric organotin carboxylates [nBu2Sn(HIPA)]3·3(H2O) (1) and [(Me3Sn)2(HIPA)]4 (2) have been synthesized and structurally characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, elemental analysis, IR, 1H and 119Sn NMR spectra. Di-n-butyltin(IV) compound 1 presents a cyclotrimeric structure containing a 24-membered macrocyclic cavity. All atoms of the macrocycle are almost coplanar and six oxygen atoms direct into the interior and six Sn–butyl groups are approximately perpendicular to the cyclotrimeric plane. The diameter of the cyclic cavity is large enough for the introduction of n-butyl groups. Thus two molecules form a bis[2]pseudorotaxane through mutual threading via two of the Sn–butyl groups. Compound 2 is a weakly-bridged cyclotetramer owing to the presence of bidentate bridging carboxylate ligands. X-ray crystallographical analysis reveals that there are two types of coordination modes for carboxylic groups in compound 2: monodentate and bidentate. The geometries of all tin atoms in 2 can also be classified into two types: pentacoordinated endocyclic tin and tetracoordinated exocyclic tin. In compound 2, each endocylic tin atom exhibits two different SnO bonds, and further solution studies show collapse of the intermolecular weak SnO interactions observed in the solid state to yield monomeric species. Interestingly, the intermolecular hydrogen bonds have resulted in the formation of 2D network structures for the titled compounds.
