From the excitation wavelength dependence of this dual fluorescence, and from time-resolved measurements, an inhomogeneous ground-state distribution is inferred regarding the relaxation coordinate towards the “twisted intramolecular charge transfer” (TICT) state. Solvent site inhomogeneity also leads to edge excitation red-shifts for the short-wavelength band. Comparison of the dual fluorescence of two different probe molecules is used to establish that the free volume is smaller in polyhydroxyethylmethacrylate than in PMMA." @default.
