Perhaps the most useful and available treatise on this subject is the publication of a symposium held in September 1959 by the Society for Experimental Biology. This symposium, edited by Beament, 1 points out that models may have many applications in this field of study. They may be either mechanical or conceptual and used in evaluation or demonstration of biological phenomena. However, a common use of models of this sort has been in the classification of biological entities by the establishment of a certain species, and the determination of a type which is comparatively basic for the group as a whole. The present writer has adapted this concept of a biological model in helping him to understand the relationship of several pathological entities on the basis of" @default.
