- W2071719095 abstract "origin the lachrymal glands comes from a series of epithelial gemma that form due to the lining of the upper fornix of the conjunctival sac. The lachrymal ducts for the drainage of the tears initially develop as solid epithelial strings, situated in the medial extremity of each eyelid, which subsequently merge together to develop the nasal-lachrymal duct; at the same time the upper portion gives a more dilated outline or lachrymal sac containing the two ducts. The dacrocystocele represents a dilation of the lachrymal drainage system caused by an obstruction of the duct, which therefore causes a formation of a cyst, mucus or amniotic fluid. Approximately 30% of newborns have an impervious lachrymal duct, with a smaller percentage having both. A 36 year old woman, first pregnancy, in her 29th week, spontaneous conception, course of the physiological pregnancy. An assessment of the par orbital formation was performed which was not precisely classifiable. The face was examined using a 3–4D methodology which allows a volumetric reconstruction of the surface. The results showed a small granule like object protruding from the surface of the face; an encefalocele was excluded from the front of the face. The 3D and 4D scans allow us to see the direct link between the lachrymal duct and cystic formation, with precise diagnosis of the dacrocystocele. We therefore exclude the hemangioma considering it is not vascularized, the glioma for the presence of contact with the duct. Roughly 2% of fetuses can develop a cyst in the lachrymal duct, so the counseling implemented was quite reassuring. In the reported case, the protrusion from the duct resolved itself before birth. The outcome has been shown and documented with a photo that the parents kindly sent us after birth." @default.
