The existence of motor anomalies of this type is well known to the medical profession, but their analysis as a special group and their systematic treatment by optical means has not heretofore been attempted. For this reason it seems not inappropriate to segregate this particular group under a new name. In general, anisophoria is known to occur in two groups of cases: (<i>a</i>) The first group comprises cases in which the heterophoria is due to paresis or spasm of one or more of the extraocular muscles.
