In this study we observe the interaction of the electromagnetic wave with high-speed electrons arising from the corona and spark discharges in the resonant cavity. Many examples of relatively complex waveforms are accounted by involving the linear interaction of the first electromagnetic wave due to the spark discharges and the second wave due to the corona discharges. In these interactions there is no need to involve the non-linear effects such as those observed in the pulse shortening processes. The latter processes take place when the amplitudes (powers) of the interacting waves are rather high. The goal of the study is to have better understanding of the interactions between the frequencies (the coherence effect) in the resonant cavity in order that more powerful HPM system operating in air could be designed. The coherence in the broadband sources was also considered. We are interested to learn more about the non-linear interactions between the frequencies. Also, the broadband source may help us to understand some features of these interactions that may not be obvious or difficult to be measured in the HPM system. The experimental results recorded with the broadband source are in accord with Nikola Tesla experiments done in Colorado Springs, USA from 1898 to 1900 <sup xmlns:mml=http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML xmlns:xlink=http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink>1</sup> i.e., the wireless transmission of energy of industrial importance to a great distance cannot be accomplished with pulses of large powers that have many frequencies in the pulse. In contrast to these data involving many frequencies in the pulse, we note that the laser operates at single frequency. For some time we have learned that the powerful lasers have sufficient electromagnetic energy in the pulse and they are able to propagate the energy over a large distance and to vaporize a satellite in orbit." @default.
