- W2072494310 abstract "The Topological Treatment of Mixtures (TTM), previously applied to binary systems, is extended to ternary systems using Scatchard's equation. The model obtained needs only the topological description of the components and the information vector of the binary systems. Because the information vectors can be predicted from other binary systems within the same family of compounds, a predictive capacity is associated with this model. The model is briefly described and applied to the ternary system n-heptane/methylcyclohexane/toluene at 760 mm Hg. First the excess Gibbs free energy of the mixture is predicted, then the activity coefficients are calculated and from these the vapor—liquid equilibrium data are determined. The results for this ternary system agree well with experimental data. The model has been applied also to eight other ternary systems, and also in this case the agreement between prediction and experimental data is good. The results compare well to Wilson, NRTL and UNIQUAC equations." @default.
