- W2072829607 abstract "Since 1957, measurements of the cosmic radiation have been carried out by different instruments at Halle (ϕ = 51.48°, λ = 11.97°) and Lindau (ϕ = 51.60°, λ = 10.10°). The measurements include an energy spectrum (maxima of the energy distribution) from 5 to 75 GeV. The data were corrected by the pressure coefficient. It was interesting to investigate the periodic variations of the cosmic radiation during the last period of solar activity. The 11-yr variation was registered by all instruments, except the underground one. The yearly course, caused by the temperature effect, is evident at all instruments, measuring mesons. The underground values are phase shifted to times 3 hr earlier. The daily period was gained by forming an average of the values of the individual years. While the characteristic course has been obtained during the eleven years at all instruments at ground level, the underground ones show remarkable alterations. These are due to larger phase fluctuations of the position of the maximum of the daily period. The harmonic analysis was carried out for the 1st and 2nd harmonic. The amplitude of the daily period decreases during the time interval of the observations. At the neutron monitors, the position of the maximum shows only small variations, whereas at the other instruments, the maximum is shifted to earlier hours. The importance of the 2nd harmonic of the daily period is discussed. Underground the 2nd harmonic is relatively large." @default.
