- W2073200723 abstract "Abstract This paper is the result of a theoretical and numerical study of a cutting model in turning which is based on viscoplastic theory. The model allows the calculation of typical characteristics, such as cutting effort, and takes into account the problems related to the high temperatures reached during high-speed cutting. After having established the basic hypothesis, the kinematics of the chip are defined and analysed. Following this, the material behaviour law is presented and introduced into the development of the calculations. Finally, the energies of the system are balanced, allowing the model equation to be solved for the case of orthogonal cutting. The results of this theoretical study are dedicated to the completion of a calculation software program, which is usable for various materials and cutting conditions. The last part of the study contains some cutting power- and load-results and the paper concludes with an analysis on the influence of different parameters (i.e., the significance of the Norton-Hoff coefficients, the insignificance of the thermal conductivity of the material, etc)." @default.
