- W2073382977 abstract "The time dependence effects of iv administrations of carbaryl (8 and 16 mg/kg body wt) on the in vivo phagocytic function of the reticuloendothelial system (RES), and on the activities of liver serine esterases, i.e., N-benzoyl-dl-phenylalanine β-naphthyl esterase and acetylcholinesterase, were studied. The enzymatic activities of 5′-nucleotidase, β-glucuronidase, and lactate dehydrogenase also were investigated. The RE-reversible depression induced by carbaryl was not followed by a phase of hyperactivity. Carbaryl administrations reversibly diminished the activities of N-benzoyl-dl-phenylalanine β-naphthyl esterase, 5′-nucleotidase, and β-glucuronidase. The activity of the lactate dehydrogenase was not affected by the insecticide. The inhibition profiles of the activities of β-glucuronidase and 5′-nucleotidase, not correlated with the decrease of the phagocytic function, showed a carbaryl-induced membranous perturbation. The profiles of Kupffer cell-dependent inhibitions of phagocytosis of the rat RES and of the inhibitions of liver serine esterases revealed similarities for each dose of carbaryl administered. These facts reinforce the hypothesis that inhibition of phagocytosis by carbaryl is due to its inhibitor effect on cell-bound serine esterases." @default.
