- W2074170003 abstract "Twenty-four patients with renal carcinoma, 6 patients with benign, solitary renal cysts, and 46 control patients were examined for tumour-directed, cellular hypersensitivity by means of the capillary tube leucocyte migration technique (LMT). The patients were tested with soluble extracts of: (1) foetal, human kidney; (2) allogeneic hypernephroma tissue and corresponding normal, renal tissue; (3) autologous renal tumour tissue and corresponding normal, renal tissue. No significant stimulation or inhibition of leucocyte migration was found in patients with renal cysts. Thirteen out of eighteen and 12 out of 23 patients with renal carcinoma showed a state of cellular hypersensitivity towards the extracts of hypernephroma and foetal renal tissue. This reactivity was demonstrated preoperatively in 6 out of 11 and 5 out of 13 patients respectively. Tissue preparations from adult normal renal tissue did not cause any reaction. Reactivity was found equally often in patients with and without regional lymph node metastases. Patients having distant metastases at the time of initial treatment, significantly less often had tumour-directed, cellular hypersensitivity than the patients without distant metastases." @default.
