- W2074449351 abstract "Some of the phenomena connected with the regeneration of crystalline basement complexes during orogenesis are discussed. Tectonic reconstitution is considered firstly by reference to the distortion of the basement-cover unconformity and of structural markers such as dyke-swarms, and secondly in terms of the development of new tectonic patterns. Tectonic reconstitution is usually associated with metamorphism or migmatisation and appears to take place on a large scale only in the crustal environments in which these processes operate. Under non-metamorphic conditions, the basement may be mechanically disrupted. The role of mobilisation of granitic fractions in the generation of some types of basement structure is mentioned and is seen to be partly responsible for the anomalous relationships of mantled gneiss domes. Finally, the migrations of certain ore-bearing fluids are considered in relation to the regeneration of the basement." @default.
