- W2074501816 abstract "The kinetics of chenodeoxycholic acid were studied in 5 healthy subjects after oral administration of a mixture of randomly 3 H-labelled and 24-14 C-labelled material of the bile acid. The calculations were made from the specific radioactivity of chenodeoxycholic acid isolated in 5–6 specimens of duodenal bile obtained at intervals of 1–3 days. The values recorded for the half-life times were almost the same with both isotopes. The figures obtained for the pool size and turnover with the 3H-tracer exceeded those with the 14C-tracer by 14±2 (mean ± S.E.M.) and 17 ± 2%, respectively. These differences most probably reflect a non-specific exchange of 3H for hydrogen. Other experiments in which [3H]- and [4C] chenodeoxycholic acid was added to non-radioactive specimens of duodenal bile demonstrated that 6 ± 1% of the tritium disappeared during the saponification and/or extraction procedures." @default.
