- W2074820746 abstract "Abstract The structural transformations which occur on annealing the thin films of 8 glasses in the two chalcogenide systems GeAsTe and GeAsSe have been studied using X-ray analysis, electron microscopy and electrical conductivity. These studies indicated that thin films of the former system undergo a partial devitrification at low elevated temperatures, around 200°C, whereas thin films of the latter are highly resistant to devitrification even at 550°C. These observations have been supported by DTA studies done on the bulk glasses, which showed that the glasses in the former system have low transition temperatures around 200°C and devitrification temperatures around 320°C, and the glasses in the latter system have rather high transition temperatures around 400°C. However, the reason for the difference in the devitrification temperatures of thin film and bulk glasses in the former system could not be clearly identified. From the observation of memory effect with long decay time pulses and threshold switching with sharp cut-off pulses, in thin films of the GeAsTe system, it is suggested that apart from the structural transformational properties of glasses, the form of application of electric field also has a considerable influence on the switching properties of chalcogenide glasses." @default.
