The greatest concern in this group is caused by chronic diseases proceeding with irreversible bronchial obstruction. Among them were 1769 men (35 %) and 3285 women (65 %). The results of our research have shown that at different stages of development of COPD are 38. 4% of the surveyed population; 20. 2% were referred to the risk group of development of COPD; foreillness and the presence of illness is diagnosed in 18, 2 % of the persons. The main household risk factor is smoking: 71% of male respondents and 22% of females smoke or smoked in the past. The high morbidity level of COPD is connected to a combination of adverse climate and weather conditions of the region and technogenic pollution and low standard of living of the population." @default.
