- W2075735982 abstract "In this investigation, a method has been developed for determining the hydrodynamic mass of a body in fluid. It is applied to the impeller stage of a centrifugal pump. In comparison with other added mass approaches, two main features have been included: (1) an accurate representation of the three-dimensional geometry of the pump; (2) the effects of the velocity of the fluid. The method is based on a linear perturbation technique which assumes that the disturbance in the pump's flow boundaries and velocities caused by motion of the rotor are small. A potential method is used to estimate the velocity flow fields. The hydrodynamic mass is then obtained by calculating the total force which results from the pressures induced by perturbation of the rotor." @default.
