As described below, such shorts can present a problem for their wearers. Patient Report. An otherwise healthy 7-year-old boy presented with a 3-day history of rash noted only on his thighs. His medical history was unremarkable; he was receiving no medications and had no known drug or other allergies. The rash had developed over a 3-day period during which he had worn synthetic shorts to soccer camp. The weather had been excessively hot (above 35°C) and he had been very active.
