- W2076605237 abstract "A reversed‐phase high‐performance liquid chromatography method with UV detection was developed to study the biodegradation of linear alkylbenzenesulfonate (LAS) in briny water. Analyses were made via direct injection without sample handling except for filtration. Under these conditions the potential metabolites of LAS were readily separated and identifiable. This method has been used to follow the LAS biodegradation in briny water during a laboratory experiment. The rate of primary biodegradation was determined (half‐life of 1.5 days at 21°C). The major metabolites obtained were p‐sulfobenzoic acid and 4‐(p‐suIfophenyl)butyric acid. All the detected metabolites were eliminated by bacteria." @default.
