- W2077189852 abstract "Abstract G-values for the radiolytic products H2, H2S, H2O2 oxidised dithiothreitol and G(-SH) in γ radiolysis of N2-saturated dithiothreitol solutions have been determined. The results demostrate good sulphur material balance. G(H2) is found to be 3.4 and 1.1 at pH's 1.0 and 6.0 respectively and show that H radicals react with DTT to give H2, whereas the reaction of hydrated electron with DTT does not produce H2. The yield of H2S is estimated to be 5.6 100 eV and indicates that reaction (5), is the only significant reaction of e−aq with DTT. It also indicates that radical also contributes equally towards H2S. NO−3 ions decrease both G(-SH) and G(H2S) and increase . The increase in is due to the fact that the dianion (NO2−3 formed as a result of reaction between NO−3 and e−aq oxidises the two SH groups of DTT. From the competition kinetic studies, the rate constant k5 has been found to be ∼−1.3 × 1010M−1 sec−1. Acetone reduces the G(−SH) and G(H2S) whereas remains constant. The radical formed by the reaction of e−aq and acetone [(CH3)2COH] interacts with DTT to give a thiyl radical and isopropanol. At high acetone concentrations, G(isopropanol) has been found to be ∼2.7. The results have been discussed and are quantitatively consistent with the proposed reactions." @default.
