- W2077568980 abstract "Knowledge of the possibilities and limitations of any technique used in the diagnosis and / or monitoring of diseases is important to maximize its performance. The present article reviews, one by one, the diseases in which nailfold capillaroscopy has shown a greater or lesser number of alterations, with wide variability in their significance. This article aims to highlight the most important aspects of the test and its applicability in daily clinical practice. To summarize, the presence of giant capillaries is the finding with the best capillaroscopic predictive / diagnostic value in diseases such as systemic sclerosis and dermatomyositis, while capillary loss is the finding with greatest prognostic value when assessing the risk of organ involvement. © 2010 SER.
