The mixture exhibits very interesting chromonic nature of co-existent biphasic region of nematic phase for different concentrations of Abietic acid sequentially when the specimen is cooled from its isotropic phase. The order parameter (S) of nematic phase is estimated with the help of optical anisotropy using the measured refractive index and density data. The temperature variation of experimentally found order parameter curve is well fitted with the Maier–Saupe theoretical curve. The temperature variation of electrical-conductivity has also been discussed. Formation of above molecular orientations has been confirmed by optical and DSC studies." @default.
