- W2078014747 abstract "Multiuser Diversity (MUD) is a popular technique that has been used in different wireless communication systems to increase the system throughput by opportunistically selecting the best user from the pool of candidate users. In particular, for the case of a multiuser OFDMA system, users are opportunistically selected based on the Channel Quality Information (CQI) that they have reported to the central Base Station (BS) in the form of uplink feedback. Either the feedback being detail (which seriously increases uplink overhead in the system) or being partial (which might not accurately represent CQI and MUD exploitation could be non fruitful) the system throughput remains non-optimal. Hence to address this issue, partial feedback with best-M scheduling has been previously proposed. In such scheme, CQI of M subchannels are reported to the BS instead of CQI of all available subchannels which thus reduces the uplink overhead. In this paper, to further increase the system throughput, we propose an Adaptive Best-M Feedback Scheduling (ABMFS) where M is adaptively calculated based on the number of active users. Through computer simulations, we show that the proposed scheme (i) offers greater or equal downlink throughput with remarkably reduced uplink overheard, and (ii) increases the number of users that can be simultaneously supported in the system, in comparison to the conventional best-M scheduling scheme." @default.
