- W2078238448 abstract "Using the case of the post-1990 transformation of the Shenyang-Dalian urban corridor in north-east China, this paper argues that economic globalisation and industrial restructuring policy in China are closely linked and have significant spatial consequences. Through the examination of the socioeconomic changes in rural and urban regions and rural–urban linkages, this paper highlights the new spatial form of the Shenyang-Dalian urban corridor and identifies the contrasting processes which have led to an increasing divergence in the economic growth of the two urban poles of this corridor and a breakdown in rural–urban integration in the region. This paper concludes that globalisation forces and the reforms of state-owned enterprises since the late 1990s have together had differential impacts on parts of the Shenyang-Dalian mega-urban region, resulting in heterogeneous patterns of regional restructuring leading to varied spatial outcomes of transformation." @default.
