- W2078364519 abstract "1. ATP-dependent uptake of Ca by a microsomal fraction from rat myometrium was shown to be a net uptake in exchange for Mg. Ca45 uptake by this system was decreased by increasing concentrations of Ca, Sr and Ba ions. 2. However, Sr was much less effective than Ca, and Ba was much less effective than Sr. La ions had no effect in the concentrations tested. 3. The characteristics of Ca inhibition of Ca45 uptake suggested the existence of two types of binding sites. 4. The relative ineffectiveness of Sr and Ba ions in competing with Ca45 for uptake suggested that this system differed from that controlling Ca exchange at the cell surface. 5. A number of drugs including oxytocin, caffeine and cyclic AMP were found to have no effect on ATP-dependent Ca45 uptake under the conditions used. 6. Uptake of Ca was increased by epinephrine, but the time course of the effect suggested that it might not be related to epinephrine-induced relaxation." @default.
