Isolated from an animal epizootic in 1924, it gained its name because of its ability to incite a striking monocytosis in rabbits (1). The organism has been implicated in a variety of human diseases including meningitis, encephalitis, bacteremia, subacute endocarditis, recurrent abortion, and neonatal granulomatosis (2-5).This report [1] reviews the available English literature on listerial infections in children and adults, [2] reports 18 cases of listerial infection arising in patients with malignancy at the Memorial...References1.
