- W2078651715 abstract "Neutral acetylacetonato-metal complexes of Zn(II), Ni(II), Co(II), Al(III) and of Fe(III) reacted with picric acid in benzene-ethyl alcohol (1:1 solvent mixture) to give a reaction product of the type [(acac) n −1 M + (H 2 O) m ] picrate, where n = oxidation state of the metal, m = 3 for the first two metals and m = 2 for the other metals; Hacac = acetylacetone. Similar reaction with the Mg(II) and Mn(II) complexes led to the replacement of both acetylacetonate ligands by the picrate ions, and no reaction took place in the case of the Cr(III) acetylacetonate complex. 2,4-dinitrophenol reacted with the (acac) 2 M (II) complexes, M = Zn, Mg, Mn to give a reaction product of the first type for the first two metals ( m = 3 for Zn and for Mg) and to replace both acetylacetonate ligand for the last metal. No reaction was observed between 2,4-dinitrophenol and Cu(II), Co(II) or Ni(II) acetylacetonate complexes, or between o-, m- or p -nitrophenol and any of the divalent Cu, Zn, Mg, Co, Ni or Mn acetylacetonate complexes. Chemical analysis, electronic and vibrational spectra and conductance measurements are all in accordance with the presented formulations. These reactions are correlated with the stability constants of the neutral acetylacetonate-metal complexes and with the p K value of the nitrophenol. The reaction of sodium or potassium acetylacetonates with either picric acid, 2,4-dinitrophenol, o -nitrophenol or p -nitrophenol led to the formation of the alkali metal salt of the corresponding nitrophenol." @default.
