- W2078692575 abstract "This article explores the application of technological style analysis for detecting migrant populations in the Silver Creek area during the Pueblo III to Pueblo IV transition (A. D. 1250-1300). Following Bourdieu’s (1977) conceptualization of habitus, and its extension into the realm of technological style by Sackett (1982) and others (Clark 2001; Hegmon 1998; Lechtman 1977; Stark 1998), I explore the utility of technological style as a way of understanding why people create similar objects in different ways, and the implications of technological style in conceptualizing differences in identity. Four attributes of corrugated ceramics from Bailey Ruin (AZ P:11:1 [ASM]) that reflect manufacturing processes were measured and statistically compared to determine if any differences in manufacturing techniques could be detected, and if these differences could be meaningfully attributed to an influx of migrants with distinct enculturative backgrounds. Results demonstrated that differences in attributes existed between spatially discrete areas of Bailey Ruin. I argue that these differences provide an additional line of evidence suggesting migration played an important role in social dynamics during the occupation of this site." @default.
