- W2079325003 abstract "In this work the new possibilities of determination of the content of some pharmaceutical products of the sulfonamide group have been investigated using the catalytic thermometric method for the end point determination of coulometric and volumetric neutralization titrations. In volumetric titrations the standard ethanolic solutions of potassium hydroxide (0.07 and 0.2 mol dm−3) were used as the titrating reagent. Coulometric titrations were performed in solutions containing sodium perchlorate (0.25 mol dm−3) as the supporting electrolyte by means of a cathodically polarized platinum generating electrode. Titrations were carried out in acetone and the titration endpoint was determined registering the exothermic (already known) effect of diacetone alcohol formation from acetone, the reaction being catalyzed by the first excess of the titrating base. The optimal working conditions (concentration of the titrating reagent, generating current intensity, etc.) are established. Amounts of 1.81 – 1.91 and 64.62 – 70.81 mg of sulfathiazole, sulfadimidine, sulfamerazine, and sulfamethoxazole were determined with a maximal standard deviation less than 1.0%. The achieved results are in agreement with those of photometric titrations and also with titrations applying diazotization reaction." @default.
