An experimert to determine the effect of pulse length on the subsequent free-induction decay was carried out for gypsum, calcium fluoride, and ice. A single r-f pulse at the Larmor frequency of the spin system was applied to the sample in equilibrium and the resulting free-induction decay shape was recorded.
