- W2079799035 abstract "Abstract A series of 3-alkyl-2,4-pentanedionato copper(II) complexes and their 2,2′-bipyridine and 1,10-phenanthroline adducts have been synthesized and characterised by microanalysis, conductance, magnetic and spectral measurements. The conductance data in nitromethane indicate that the Cu(Et-acac)2.bipy2, Cu(Et-acac)2. phen2, Cu(iPr-acac)2.bipy2 and Cu(iBu-acac)2, bipy2 adducts are 1:1 electrolytes. The room temperature magnetic moments suggest that they are magnetically dilute compounds while the solvent dependence observed in the ligand field spectral band positions suggest plausible 4- and 5-coordinate geometries for these compounds. Their infra-red spectra inferred the presence of carbonyl groups in different environments and hypsochromic shifts of the carbonyl stretching frequencies were observed in the adducts. Square-planar and square-pyramidal stereochemistries have been proposed for the complexes and adducts, respectively, except for Cu (iPracac)2. bipy2 which is 4-coordinate square-planar, in addition to the presence of outer-sphere coordinated anions in some of the adducts." @default.
