Differential Scanning Calorimetry and X-ray diffraction confirm that this effect is due to crystallization (formation of crystalline Al13Fe4 with dissolved copper) of quasicrystalline Al65Cu20Fe15, contrary to the stability of this phase at high temperatures that has been reported in the literature. The transition is thermally activated, and has an activation energy on the order of 300 kJ/mole." @default.
