They have been simulated by a micro-computer and their effects on phase demodulation when FFT method is used have been studied in thispaper. Besides, the bandwidth and undistorted demodulation characteristics in photo-carrier measurementhave been investigated with FFT analysis method.Keywords: Fourier transform, photo-carrier, modulation and demodulation, phase function, specklenoise, random additive noise 1. INTRODUCTION 1-D Fourier analysis method of photo-carrier fringe proposed by M.Takeda et aL' has been widelyapplied on highly accurate detection, such as holographic interferometry fringes, speckle fringes and moire fringes, because of its capability of automatic discrimination of phase information from an interferogram. To get highly accurate detection results, the error sources, such as aliasing, incorrectfiltering in the Fourier space, random additive noise, fringe discontinuity and boundary have beendiscussed by several authors25• But in practical metrology, the speckle noise and the different gradientof phase function also have considerable effects on the highly accurate reirieved phase, especially inspeckle fringe pattern and carrier ESPI fringe pattern analysis.
