- W2080235971 abstract "Abstract Radiometric age measurements on granitic instrusions are reported from the Nassarawa Eggon and Mkar—Gboko areas in southeastern Nigeria. The RbSr whole-rock isochrons of 535 ± 8 Ma (Nassarawa Eggon) and 547 ± 38 Ma (Mkar—Gboko) are interpreted as the time of emplacement of the magmas while the respective initial 87 Sr 86 Sr ratios obtained, 0.7097 ± 0.0003 and 0.7107 ± 0.0011 ( λ 87 Rb = 1.42 × 10 −11 y −1 ; 1 σ ), indicate that they are of crustal origin. The RbSr ages of 512 ± 10 Ma (Nassarawa Eggon) and 539 ± 8 Ma (Mkar—Gboko) on biotites reflect their cooling ages. The whole-rock isochron/biotite pairs show that there was a short time-lapse between the emplacement and cooling of each of the magmas, and that no further major heating event has occurred in the area since the late Pan-African epoch." @default.
