• W2080379013 abstract "1. Dentition and course of dental laminae in larval and adult hynobiid salamanders are described using scanning and light microscopy.2. As in other Urodela a developmental sequence can be observed from monocuspid undivided to monocuspid divided teeth in larvae to divided bicuspid teeth in metamorphosed specimens. In some larvae available both types of monocuspids were present, their replacements being divided.3. In larvae and adults one continuous dental lamina accompanies the upper jaw. In larvae a vomerine and a palatinal dental lamina, both separated by a distinct gap, accompany the bones at their lingual face; thus replacements are outward. In adults there is only one dental lamina (very likely the vomerine) buccal of the vomer with replacements occurring inward, thus being comparable to the conditions found in Plethodontidae. Obviously the anterior portion of the larval vomerine dental lamina grows out during metamorphosis and extends backwards accompanying a medial expansion of the vomer.4. Previous observations and the findings presented here (absence of two separated dental laminae in adults, disintegration of the palatinal dental lamina observed in some larvae) strongly support the assumption, that hynobiids possess a definitive vomer and not a vomeropalatinum.ZusammenfassungMorphologische Untersuchungen an der Mundhohle von Urodelen. VIII. Die Zahne des Oberkiefers und des Munddaches von zwei Hynobius-Arten (Hynobiidae: Amphibia)1. Bezahnung und Verlauf der Zahnleisten larvaler und adulter Hynobiiden werden anhand rasterelektronenmikroskopischer und lichtmikroskopischer Aufnahmen beschrieben.2. Wie bei anderen Urodelen entwickeln sich die Zahne von monocuspiden ungeteilten zu monocuspiden geteilten bei Larven (bei einigen Larven waren beide Zahntypen vorhanden, die Ersatzzahne jedoch ausnahmslos geteilt) zu geteilten bicuspiden bei metamorphosierten Tieren.3. Bei Larven und Adulten begleitet eine Zahnleiste luckenlos den Oberkiefer. Bei Larven begleitet je eine Zahnleiste den Vomer und das Palatinum auf der lingualen Seite; der Zahnersatz erfolgt in Richtung der Mundoffnung (nach ausen). Bei Erwachsenen existiert nur noch eine Zahnleiste, sehr wahrscheinlich die des Vomers, auf der Buccalseite des Vomers; der Zahnersatz erfolgt nach innen. Diese Verhaltnisse kommen auch bei Plethodontiden vor. Offenbar wachst der vordere Abschnitt der Vomerzahnleiste wahrend der Metamorphose aus und begleitet den fast medial gelegenen nach caudal auswachsenden Vomer.4. Fruhere Beobachtungen und die hier mitgeteilten Befunde (Fehlen von zwei getrennten Zahnleisten im Munddach der Adulten, Degeneration der Palatinumzahnleiste bereits vor der Metamorphose) stutzen die Annahme, das Hynobiiden einen definitiven Vomer, nicht jedoch ein Vomeropalatinum besitzen." @default.
