- W2080498577 abstract "FcγRI, one of the cell surface receptors for the Fc portion of IgG1 and IgG3 is the only high affinity receptor in the family of Fcγ receptors, participates in immune phagocytosis but is not constitutively expressed in PMN. We studied the expression of FcγRI in PMN and compared it to the expression of FcγRII (CD32), FcγRIII (CD16), BH2-Ag, and CR3 (CD11b) in different classes of perinatally HIV-infected pediatric patients. PMN were isolated from the blood of 44 patients and 8 age-matched controls, reacted in ice with directly fluoresceinated mAbs and analysed by cytofluorimetry. Less than 1% of control PMN expressed FcγRI. In contrast, an increasing number of PMN of the not symptomatic (CDC Category N)(7%), mildly symptomatic (CDC Categ. A) (8%), and moderately symptomatic (CDC Categ. B) patients (14%, p=0.002) expressed FcγRI. A dramatic increase of FcγRI positive PMN was found in all severly symptomatic patients (CDC Categ. C) with 58% (27-85%) of PMN staining with mAb 32.2. The increase in FcγRI-positive PMN was not accompanied by a significant increase in the medium fluorescence intensity. Expression of the other surface antigens in PMN did not change significantly during disease progression. The results suggest that analysis of FcγRI expression in PMN may be used as an additional parameter in the evaluation of the progression of pediatric AIDS." @default.
