- W2080710152 abstract "In this investigation, cobalt(II), nickel(II), copper(II), zinc(II) and chromium(III) ions were caused to react in aqueous solutions with the sodium salts of 5-o-chlorobenzyltetrazole, and 5-phenyltetrazole, 5-p-methoxyphenyltetrazole, 5-p-chlorobenzyltetrazole, and 5-phenyltetrazole. No complexes were obtained with iron(II), iron(III), or manganese(II). The complexes were insoluble in most solvents. However, a few were soluble in donor solvents. I.R. spectra indicate that the 1-nitrogen on the tetrazole ring is not protonated in the complexes. By using positions of bands in the electronic absorption spectra, the ligands could usually be listed in the order of increasing ligand strength towards a given metal ion. The electronic absorption spectra of the solid nickel(II), cobalt(II), and chromium(III) complexes indicate octahedral symmetry. The spectra of the copper(II) complexes indicate tetragonal distortion. The magnetic moments of the nickel(II), chromium(III), and cobalt(II) complexes suggest high-spin. However, a few of the copper(II) complexes have low magnetic moments. The ESR spectra of the copper(II) complexes also indicate tetragonal distortion; the chromium(III) spectra indicate octahedral symmetry. The ESR spectra of the nickel(II) and cobalt(II) complexes were generally complex and poorly resolved." @default.
