- W2080951645 abstract "A transplanted hamster tumour induced by the Carr-Zilber strain of Rous sarcoma virus was studied during ten consecutive passages. Mature virus, virus connected with the cells, viral antigen and antigen active in the complement fixation test were determined. The ability of Rous virus to be activated in tumour cells was also determined with the aid of heterokaryon formation with chick embryo fibroblasts. It was shown that the tumour retained in all passages the capacity for activation of Rous virus despite the disappearance of virus and viral antigen. The minimum number of cells containing one activated virus unit was increased during the tumour passages. X-irradiation of the tumour cells did not activate the Rous virus. The method of heterokaryon formation was also successfully applied for activation of Rous virus from a cell line that had originated in a hamster Rous tumour and had been cultivated in vitro for more than two years. Activation du Virus de Rous dans une Tumeur Transplantée de Hamster a l'aide de la Formation Artificielle de Noyaux Cellulaires Hybrides On a étudié pendant 10 passages consécutifs une tumeur transplantée de hamster provoquée par la souche Carr-Zilber du virus du sarcome de Rous. On a déterminé la présence de virus mǔr, de virus lié aux cellules, d'antigène vital et d'antigène actif en fixation du complément. On a également déterminé l'aptitude du virus de Rous à l'activation dans les cellules tumorales au moyen de la formation de noyaux hybrides avec des fibroblastes d'embryon de poulet. On a montré qu'à tous les passages la tumeur conservait sa capacité d'activation du virus, malgré la disparition du virus lui-měme et de l'antigène viral. Le nombre minimal de cellules contenant une uniteé de virus activé augmentait avec les passages de la tumeur. L'irradiation des cellules tumorales par les rayons X n'a pas entraǐné d'activation du virus. La méthode de la formation de noyaux hybrides a également été appliquée avec succès à l'activation du virus dans une lignée cellulaire provenant d'une tumeur de Rous de hamster et cultivée pendant plus de deux ans." @default.
