- W2081363532 abstract "Transcranial sonography (TCS) is an ultrasound-based noninvasive neuroimaging method that enables the study of echogenic structures in the brain. The technique allows for measurement of ventricular width and assessment of deep gray matter echogenicity; its modification, the well-known and universally used transcranial Doppler (TCD), allows for quantitative intracranial blood flow measurement. Its relatively low cost and reasonable resolution makes this neuroimaging method potentially attractive for detecting tissue signal abnormalities in a variety of neurologic disorders. The use of TCS to assess progression in multiple sclerosis (MS) is clearly a novel idea, although similar findings have already been demonstrated in a variety of neurodegenerative diseases, including Parkinson disease, Wilson disease, and others.1 In MS itself, there have been a number of studies utilizing TCS, such as assessment of the relationship between ventricular width measurements and disability2,3 and correlation of TCS parameters and cognitive impairment.4 A few studies demonstrated arterial blood flow–related changes in the context …" @default.
