- W2082521567 abstract "‘Polycystic ovary syndrome’ (PCOS) is one of the most common endocrine disorder in women caused due to imbalances of female sex hormones. The objective of the paper is to analyze the pattern of research in the area of PCOS research based on the published literature. The bibliographic data, for a period of 40 years, have been obtained from SCOPUS and has been analyzed for types of publications, languages; productive journals; authors; countries & institutions; subjects covered; and citation impact. The phrase ‘Polycystic ovary syndrome’, available in title, abstract and keyword field, was used to retrieve data. The statistical method has been used to analyze the data and interpret the results. The citation data have been taken as number of citations scored by each authors till 2013 (TC2013). After analysis of the data it is found that PCOS literature is spread over 99 countries of the world where United States have contributed the highest number of articles. Research contribution of BRICS countries, China has produced the maximum number of articles. ‘Fertility and Sterility’ is the most productive journal and published 9.96% of PCOS articles. ‘S Franks’, the most productive author, has contributed 178 articles on PCOS. The most prominent feature observed about citation life of the of the article on PCOS that some of the articles show delayed rise and slow decline in their citation count, while some articles show early rise and rapid decline in their citation count. The women face many social complications due to the PCOS disease, and the woman fails to conceive. There is need to create awareness about the disease and causes, rather than making it a social issue." @default.
