- W2083128668 abstract "Transfer of delayed hypersensitivity (DH) to Eimeria bovis antigen, purified protein derivative (PPD), and keyhole limpet hemocyanin (KLH) by means of bovine transfer factor (TFd) was demonstrated by skin-test responses and lymphocyte stimulations. TFd was prepared from lymph node-derived lymphocytes by the incubation-release procedure. The DH conversion rate for bovine TFd was about 80%. Prior skin testing of cattle with antigens did not cause their conversion to positive DH reactivity to E. Bovis, PPD, or KLH antigens, however, no direct evidence for or against antigen priming was found in the present study. Evidence for donor specificity in the TFd preparations was found in the transfer experiments. Fractionation of TFd into two precipitates and a supernatant was accomplished by the addition of 2 and 4 vol of 95% ethanol. Transfer of DH reactivity was demonstrated with first and second precipitates combined but not with supernatant. Fractionation of the active material from TFd by alcoholic precipitation should prove valuable in the characterization and isolation of purified TFd activity." @default.
