- W2084073312 abstract "1. The potential profiles of individual lens fibers lying between the lens surface and its nucleus were examined in the frog (Rana catesbiana) by a conventional microelectrode technique. 2. The most superficial fibers near the anterior and posterior surfaces of the bullfrog lens exhibited the same and highest resting potentials. Fibers nearest the lens nucleus had the lowest resting potentials. There appeared to be a progressive decrease in the resting membrane potential for each deeper layer from surface fibers to those most central. 3. The extracellular space between fibers was not constant throughout the lens and appeared greatest at about 14 the distance to the center of the nucleus. 4. Contour maps of the isopotential lines of the bullfrog crystalline lens were constructed and found to agree well with the anatomical location of individual lens fibers verified by Procion yellow dye injection." @default.
