All U g and M g genome chromosomes were tentatively assigned to their homoeologous groups based on C-banding, meiotic metaphase I pairing analyses and plant morphologies. Thirteen disomic and one monosomic wheat-Ae. geniculata chromosome additions were identified. Furthermore, two monotelosomic (MtA7U g L, MtA7M g L) and nine ditelosomic (DtA1U g S, DtA1U g L, DtA2U g S, DtA1M g L, DtA2M g L, DtA3M g S, DtA5M g S, DtA6M g L, DtA7M g S) wheat-Ae. geniculata additions were recovered. C-banding and meiotic pairing analyses revealed that all added U g and M g genome chromosomes are structurally unaltered compared to the Ae. geniculata parent accession. Chromosome 4M g has a strong gametocidal gene that, when transferred to wheat, causes extensive chromosome breakage mainly in gametes lacking it.
